Western Kentucky Green Gators
Club Description
Western Kentucky Green Gators (WKGG) is a swim club dedicated to promoting fitness and competitive swimming by providing organized workouts, competitions, clinics and workshops for adults aged 18 and over. Programs are open to all adult swimmers (fitness, triathlete, competitive, non-competitive) who are committed to improving their fitness through swimming. Our workouts are at the Bowling Green High School Pool on Rockingham Ave in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Swim times will vary some; however workouts are usually Monday through Thursday evenings, Saturday mornings and Sunday mornings. WKGG sponsors the Barb Stevens Swim Meet which is held in January of each year at the Bowling Green High School pool.
PRACTICE INFORMATION (Updated 10/13/20)
Hello WKGG Masters Swimmers … Just a reminder… Bowling Green Independent Schools (BGIS) has approved a plan to allow use by Western Kentucky Green Gators (WKGG) members beginning the week of Monday October 12, 2020, with the first WKGG session being Tuesday October 13 at 5:45pm to 7:00pm. Please acquaint yourself with thebelow times, volunteer need, and especially the highlighted guidelines that we must follow.
The WKGG Workout Group Sessions Schedule (subject to change periodically due to SKY/BGHS practices or meets or School or Covid 19 situations that require change):

Saturday from 9:45 to 11:00 am The SKY/BGHS kids will exit at 9:30 when their practice ends, please wait in the lot until just before 9:45
Sunday for a one hour mid/late afternoon session TBD We will ask about exact time preference at the first practice or you can email Randy or Penny
On and After November 3, 2020 (when BGHS practices start), weeknight sessions will expand to 4 nights and times will be later,
Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs from 7:15pm to 8:30pm,
Sat/Sun same as above
We need volunteers who are current WKGG USMS members for check in and deck coverage the entire time of the practices to be able to continue masters access. For the first night, Oct 13, Jeff Stein has volunteered to work the entry and deck with me. (BTW, I gave up my Titans Buffalo ticket for the rescheduled game Tues night because I committed to volunteer at the first practice.) On Saturday, Oct 17, Laura Haury has agreed to work the entry and deck with me. We will have sign ups at the door so that you can commit to a half practice on specific dates and swim the other half. If we cannot field enough regular and reliable volunteers we will need to either cut back times or abandon the WKGG practices plan until after the pandemic. We have a list of active WKGG members, if you are getting this email you are on the list that will be at the door. New members need to join USMS.org and select WKGG workout group to enter, please take care of registering prior to arrival and bring proof. Joining now takes care of membership through 2021.
Please read these guidelines carefully so that we all know how to comply - we do not want risk loss of pool use:
A 15 minute sanitation break between SKY/BGHS practices and WKGG sessions, with masters waiting in vehicles, not lingering at or near the door and not on the deck during this transition. While approaching the door to enter, members will remain at least 6 feet apart, wearing masks until ready to enter the water.
A properly masked WKGG masters member volunteer will be at the back door of the pool to take and document temperatures of all WKGG members who enter, requiring sign in/check in, and verifying proper use of masks, current USMS membership (NO GUESTS, NO EXCEPTIONS) and adherence to lane, clothing changing, lingering and distancing requirements.
The WKGG volunteer must be a current USMS member and will be responsible for ensuring that the commonly used/touched pool areas and items are disinfected/sanitized prior to and after each WKGG use, the pool is locked up at end of the session unless another approved group is using the pool immediately following, lights off and any other close down steps required.
If a member has a fever of 100.4 or higher, he or she will not be allowed to enter. If you do not feel well, please do not come to a session.
WKGG members must wear a mask while entering, exiting and on deck, keep at least six (6) feet apart from each other, with no lingering on the deck or in the pool.
No guest swimmers or observers will be allowed in the pool or on the deck during WKGG sessions unless authorized by BGHS or BGIS ( example: custodial staff.)
No WKGG member will be allowed to swim during a WKGG approved time without a WKGG member volunteer on deck the entire time; in other words, no swimming alone without a WKGG volunteer on deck at a WKGG published time
WKGG members must arrive and exit with bathing suits on, no changing of clothes or other use of BGHS changing or rest rooms. Members may remove clothing and dry off and put clothing over their suits, while observing other guidelines
The number of members using a lane at the same time will adhere to KY Healthy at Work Aquatic Center guidelines. WKGG will encourage no more than 2 in a lane, starting and stopping at opposite ends. However, 3 in a lane is permissible if two swimmers are starting/ending at opposite ends of the lane and a 3rd swimmer starts/ends in the middle of the pool, all keeping at least 6 feet apart except when passing each other
Members need to bring your own equipment (goggles, fins, boards, paddles, etc.), no use of deck or others’ equipment
Look forward to seeing some of you again this week at the pool.
Be Safe and Healthy.
